Being Passive-Aggressive

Here is a note that Sydney found today. It reads:

"Inconsiderate Laundrier (sic),

I understand your need to do laundry & congratulate you on wearing clean clothes. I wish I could say the same thing, but unfortunately my clothes ended up on the floor. It's times like these we need laundry baskets or a while row of washers to set our laundry on.

Sincerely, Irritated."

Okay I'm sorry but hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. That poor girl who was just having a rough day and then comes into the basement and her laundry is on the ground AGAIN and this time it's just too much! So she leave a very polite, but angry note and these two roommates find the note, laugh about it, and then one of them decides to blog about it! Oh it's just too much. If you have a little bit of free time this week; check out this website. http://www.passiveaggressivenotes.com/

Life Sans Sydney

So oddly enough, it's a whole lot easier to get things done when your roommate is in a different time zone. Interesting. Haha it has been an interesting week to say the least. Thoughts about this past week.

  • The BYU mens volleyball team is number one in the nation. Who knew?!
  • Matt Costa is a singer who is really all of a sudden popular in Provo. Who knew?!
  • Sundance Film Festival is actually located in Park City, Utah, not Sundance, Utah. I'm not going to continue with the "who knew?!"s because I'm already annoying myself.
  • I am just really really not a sciencey girl.
  • I do not get sick of Miike Snow. (the band, not the person.)
  • I cannot eat in the Cannon Center twice a day. It wreaks havoc on the insides if you know what I mean
  • Albums on Facebook can now hold over 200 pictures!
  • I really miss being able to call up Jen whenever I want. Or at all really.
  • I'm applying to be a counselor at Aspen Grove this summer!
  • I signed at The Elms! So relieved to know that I will have a place to rest my weary head next year after a long day of studying. Oh ho ho if only I studied that much.
  • I am in shock at how much chapstick & lotion I have gone through. DARN YOU UTAH WEATHER!
  • Thank goodness the Mavs beat the Jazz. Utahan's just kill me sometimes. Sorry anyone from Utah reading this.
  • I really miss summer term.
  • Snow is pretty! And it also can ruin boots.
  • Utah does have some benefits; I got asked on a date by a cute boy who had stamped out "Date?" in the snow outside my window.
  • I am such a boring blogger.
  • I really miss Josh and Landon and it's barely been one month.
When I walked out of my dorm to go to church, this is what I saw. Glorious. Am I right?

MLK Weekend

I'd like to start out by quoting Martin Luther King Jr. who said, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Thank you Justin Bieber for putting that in my newsfeed.

It has been a perfect weekend! I'm almost sad for all of my friends from home who are just now going back school that they didn't get to have a fun four day weekend off from school with their college friends.

I only have one class on Friday, so I got to sleep in, go to the gym, went to Jamba, (I could sing praises for Dining Plus literally all day... thank you M&D) and went to class at three! Then Sydney and I went and saw the Young Ambassadors with my grandparents! I feel so lucky to have grandparents so close.

Then we headed up to Trevor's cabin/house! It's so refreshing and nice to have boy and girl friends who are all on the same page. Duh we'll all get into these games, duh the different genders will sleep in different rooms. Haha. It was so fun and as always, nice to get out of the dorms.

Heading back to Provo for the boys basketball game!

Have I mentioned that I love Dining Plus? That's right...  I can use my meal plan card at the concession stands at the games.

Heavenly Father has blessed me with a roommate who has the exact same sense of humor has I do. Also on Sunday we went over to the boys apartment and made brownies and ate way too many pita chips and watched a movie. It will be really nice next year to have an apartment of our own to hang out at! Also there are some really stellar boys here that I feel privileged to consider my friends.

Then Park City today! Shopping at the outlets and then ate pizza and street tacos at this tasty quirky place with Cliff, Scott, and Syd. We have recently discovered that we love hanging out with other sets of roommates. There's just something about it.

Lastly, I feel grateful for courageous men such as Martin Luther King Jr. who were brave enough to stand up for things that they felt strongly about.

Scoochin' Along

I LOVE THIS SONG!

In other news...........

  • I got a page view from Israel and I was so weirded/cooled out then I realized it was my lovely sis! I enjoy my occasional updates via email from Miss Jennifer!
  •  Got 100% on my first quiz! I will take that as good omen for Winter Semester.
  • I've been really pretty darn good at going to bed early. Really. As for the getting up at seven am, well wowza how lucky am I that I can have something to work on improving upon! (Because I've basically reached maximum capacity at improving in all other areas in my life..........please world know that I am kidding)
  • I have yet to work out all of 2012. Working on that too.
  • I love all of my classes! So much!
  • I am having a mid-life crisis about my major. I don't know if I'm doing the right thing or if I should go back go Elementary Education or English, since those are the two I'd been planning on my entire life up until February of my senior year... when I decided to realize my life long dream of becoming the first female President of the United States. It's still not out of the question.
  • I actually am liking this weather. I know it's so boring to blog about the weather but hi sorry it's weirdly a big part of my life.
  • Three days later, I am still constantly thinking about Contagion. GO SEE IT!
  • I might be doing inter-tube water polo this semester for intramurals. We shall seeeeee!
  • I am probably going to be in Dallas for spring/summer terms. I can't decide if this is a good or bad thing. *i'm leaving... on the dart train* shout out to my mom
  • Foster the People is coming to both SLC and Dallas so I can see them this summer regardless of where I am this summer! Yay!
  • THERE ARE A LOT OF CUTE BOYS HERE! Like kind of maybe even more than the past semesters?
@jennyridingsolo please update your blog more than like once a semester please. Also please change your twitter name.

First Week

This first week of school has been outright groovy. My schedule could not be more perfect. This week has consisted of lots of hello how was your break hugs, smiling at strangers (new years rez... and lets be honest I wouldn't mind a hbll stranger date invite), lounging, the Cannon Center, and blog reading. Oh yes and I watched all seven episodes of  "Once Upon a Time" and cleaned my fridge. All non-school related things that I like about Provo. And this morning I woke up to snow!

Also last night I saw Contagion, which I LOVED. Also I wonder if that is how the end of the world is going to be? That would be terrifying.

Firehouse (not Subs) for Dinner

I'm so happy to be back. All break long I was dreading my return to The Freezer, but it's been a lovely past two days. Not joking whatsoever thank you Heavenly Father for giving me such good weather since I've been up here otherwise I'd be maybe crying. I loved my two classes today. You know it's gonna be a good class when you have six close friends in it with you, the professor says the textbook is optional, and you watch movie clips on the first day. Oh yeah and the class is Biology... what?

So so so so good to see everyone again. I love everyone up here so much.

Also I had dinner tonight at a firehouse, sans firemen because they were out on a call. It was bizarre and great.

Resolutions

Typically these would go in a journal or something of the sort, but by putting it on my blog I am publicly accepting the challenge of these goals. Also just fyi I make literally these exact same goals every single year. BUT this year I'll be a little more specific so that I can actually decide later if I accomplished them or not. (Thank you Irene, looks like I learned a grand total of ONE thing in all of your Effective Learning and Studying class... #yewweremeantome #bitter)

  • Sleep more
    • Okay this one is tricky. Because I actually take lots of naps all day long and I feel wonderful. Last semester I managed to get a solid seven or eight hours of sleep each night. HOWEVER. I don't think that going to bed at two am and waking up at 10 am really counts. The real goal is in bed by 11 pm and then get up at 7 am. Just for weekdays mind you, I'll let myself go cRaaaAZyy on the weekends. Kind of.
  • Study more
    • Yeah I don't even know how to specify. I'll know though. I guess do my studying the day it's assigned and not the day it's due?
  • Spend less
  • Exercise more
    • I don't have class until noon MWF so I'm aiming to work out at least three days a week and then I'll graaadually get back up to where I was before I became lethargic.
  • Gossip less
    • Okay I do want to focus on this one more. Being judgmental and critical of others is something I kinda sorta struggle with. I just really enjoy people watching... and people analyzing. Don't we all?! This semester I'm not going to say anything negative about others out loud. Instead of venting to a friend, I will write down frustrated thoughts in my journal. I think this one is important because when I start to notice something that bothers me about a person it just sticks in my head and nags and nags and nags me whenever I'm with said person.
  • Be more forgiving
    • This kind of goes hand in hand with the previous one. If someone offends me I tend to carry it with me for a while. Hence the slight jab at my professor from this summer in the intro paragraph. I'm sure I deserved her dirty looks, I was kind of chatty with Mitch and Trey.
  • Grow spiritually
    • In October, I made the goal of going to the temple each week. However, every week is different and there were a few weeks where logistically that was impossible. I'm shooting for 50 times this year. If I don't have a lot going on, I could go more than once in a week and get ahead of myself. That way I still have the wonderful experiences of going to the temple without all of the stress. Also I'm going to read a conference talk a day.
That is all I can think of at the moment. Happy 2012.
